Risk vs. Regret

Updated: Mar 19

For the last year, I have been taking care of my dad. He has many health issues, so we have spent several days in and out of the hospital and doctor’s offices.

One key phrase medical professionals have used with us is “Benefits vs. Risks.” When deciding on treatment options, there is always risk. Decision-making relies heavily on what will be the most beneficial versus taking the most risk.

Pretty straightforward, right?

Is there a clear path forward?

Risk vs. benefit is always present when it comes to personal decisions like our health or business decisions that help grow a business.

However, what if I told you there is also risk vs. regret?

Think about risks you have taken either with your current business or in the past. Risks can be exhilarating and simultaneously, scare the heck out of you.

If you are a small business owner, you likely take risks daily. Yet, if you stop and think about it, you wouldn’t be where you are right now if you didn’t take that very first risk.

You have the answers right in front of you. You just can't see them yet.

Now, think about business decisions that you regret not making.

Perhaps you didn’t close the sale when you knew it was your best chance to do so.

Or perhaps you look back on other business opportunities you didn’t take, and you may look back with regret.

I get it.

I have spent years dreaming about launching my consulting agency. Right now, it’s just me—well, me and a few dozen amazing colleagues and friends who support me in so many different ways. Believe me, that’s a huge benefit!

It took me so long to see the risk as an opportunity rather than a hindrance. However, one key detail really pushed me to take this leap: regret.

I knew that if I didn’t do this now, I would truly regret it in the future. In fact, I regret not doing this sooner!

Now, back to your business.

You may have considered adding marketing to your brand or company, but it seems too overwhelming or time-consuming. Your company is moving too fast to slow down and add another layer of tasks.

Or, you know you need marketing, but you don’t know where to start. It’s like you need a map to help you find your way.

You need a compass to find your true North.

Can I be honest? Marketing is a risk worth taking.

It takes some investment - money and time. And yet, the benefits truly make it worth it.

There is the phrase “work smarter, not harder.” And that’s where I come in and give you that map you need to push forward.

Look, you are focused on your brand. Your entire goal is to grow your business.

And here’s a little marketing secret to achieve this goal: You have the answers right in front of you. You just can’t see them yet.

Let’s spend an hour or so discussing everything you already know and how I can help bring that to life - for your business and your customers. There’s no risk in having a conversation about your vision to grow your brand.

Take a small risk to see how you will benefit from working with me.

I promise that you won’t regret it.
